CJLAX MISSION STATEMENT

Our mission is to promote the game of Lacrosse in the Central Jersey region by providing a safe and supportive environment for people of all ages and genders to participate in all aspects of the game, spanning playing, coaching, officiating and watching.

Central Jersey Lacrosse Policy Statement

This document states the Central Jersey Lacrosse (CJLAX) policies governing establishment, administration, and running of 'club' lacrosse teams sponsored by CJLAX. 

 

CJLAX Support for its Sponsored Club Lacrosse Program

CJLAX will sponsor teams based out of Michael J. Tighe Park.  CJ LAX policies and logistics for these teams are as follows.

 

CJLAX Services Provided

1)       CJLAX will work with a Program Commissioner as the single point of contact responsible for management of the program. 

2)       CJLAX will manage the collection of money from the program participants

·         The cost per player will be established on a per team basis and will be determined by team size, number of games and tournaments the team is participating in, the uniform cost, field rental costs, and other costs directly attributable to the team.  Certain shared costs may be allocated across teams playing in the same season.

3)       CJLAX will secure field of play and playing times for practices, scrimmages, and games.

4)       CJLAX will provide centralized uniform purchase for sponsored teams.

5)       CJLAX will pay for coaches US LAX membership for any coach in a CJLAX sponsored program

6)       CJLAX will provide referees as needed for scrimmages and games

7)       CJLAX will make payment for tournament entry fees.

8)       CJLAX will provide on-line rosters with full player name, address, phone number and US LAX number for any sponsored team

9)     CJLAX will update information concerning game and practice times, date, status, etc on the CJLAX web site at www.cjlax.com  for full sponsored teams.

 

Teams

1)       CJLAX will sponsor U11, U13 and U15 teams.

2)       All participants on CJLAX teams must be members of US Lacrosses for insurance purposes.

3)       Players should not play on multiple CJLAX sponsored teams in the same program.

4)       Players on the U13 teams must in either the Freehold Twp REC program or in their home township lacrosse REC program if that township offers a program.

5)     Players on the U15 teams must in either the Freehold Twp REC program or in their home township lacrosse REC program if that township offers a program.

6)       Each team should be an independent entity from a roster perspective and players should play only one team. The Program Commissioner and team coaches should be involved in any discussion of having a player play on different team. The primary reason for sharing players to have enough players available to play a game or for player development. 

7)       Each team will have a designated Head Coach who is responsible for enforcement of all CJLAX policies.

8)       Team size will be a minimum of 18 players and a maximum of 22 players, exceptions considered on a case by case basis.

9)     Each team must have an identified list of coaches and designate a Head Coach to the Program Commissioner.

 

Season Logistics

1)       The outdoor practice and playing season will begin on or about the first weeek in March and end no later than the end of May, although some indoor practices may be held in January and February.

2)       The maximum number of event days for any team will be 15.  Any event day is defined as any day that a team plays a game or scrimmage after the last day of March.

3)     The objective is to have each team participate in at least two tournaments.

4)     Any player that is forced to stop playing due to injury will be refunded a prorated amount  based on games remaining in the season.

 

Playing Time Policy

1)       Playing time will be based on coach's game time decisions.

2)       Players are not guaranteed equal playing time in game and tournament situations, but the objective is to equalize playing time for players across season

3)     Coaches must discuss their playing time policy with all players and parents prior to commitment by the player and parents for the any season.  A written policy statement is recommended.

 

Player Requirements

1)       Player Age/Grade eligibility

·         U11 players must currently be in 4th grade or lower

·         U13 players must currently be in 6th grade or lower

·         U15 players must currently be in 8th grade or lower

2)       Player Geographic Eligibility

·         Any player that is in the Freehold Regional School District is eligible to participate.

3)       Players must be  active registered members of US Lacrosse for the full length of the season and must provide that US Lacrosse Number to the coach prior to participation in any CJLAX sponsored practice or game.

4)       Players must supply their own equipment and must have all required equipment to participate in any CJLAX sponsored practice or games

5)       NOCSAE certified LACROSSE helmet
    - mouth guard
    - lacrosse shoulder pads
    - lacrosse arm pads,
    - lacrosse gloves,
    - athletic supporter with cup,
    - lacrosse stick

6)       CJLAX will provide the Goaltender stick, throat guard and chest protector for the goaltender.

7)     Players must pay full season costs before they will be allowed to participate in any CJ LAX sponsored practice or game.

 

Coaches Requirements

1)       All coaches must be active members of US Lacrosse before participating in any CJLAX sponsored practice or game.

2)       All coaches must complete a CJLAX volunteer form prior to participating in any CJLAX sponsored practice or game

3)       The Head Coach should explain their policy on the following topics to all players and parents prior the start of the season:

-          Player recruitment/try-outs

-          Roster additions/deletions

-          Playing time policy

-          Practice expectations

-          Overall team communications

-          This policy statement must be submitted to the Program Commissioner prior to start of any season and made available to any player or parent prior to the start of any season.

4)     Head Coaches will be responsible for understanding and enforcing all CJLAX policies for the club program.
